Armed with a Deep BW IR converted Sony A7, and a Sunpak 622 Super Pro IR Flash, photographer Dan Wagner roamed the streets of New York City in search of opportunities to test his infrared rig. Having looked forward to shooting street photography with invisible flash for years, Dan hoped his research, planning and expenditures would pay off.
Would the infrared flash be powerful enough to get the results he envisioned? Could he combine daylight shooting with infrared flash fill? Should he combine infrared flash with an anamorphic adapter mounted on a Sony 55mm lens—or would that look too gimmicky? Having spent close to $2,000, Dan was understandably anxious.
