About the instructor: Dan Wampler – LifePixel Creative Director
Dan Wampler is an internationally published digital artist living in the Midwest. He has spent most of his career in the Photography industry, has literally trained thousands of photographers. Dan became interested in digital Infrared photography a little over 10 years ago, and since then has had work in numerous gallery exhibits and in several publications including Shutterbug magazine. He currently has an image on the cover of a bestseller in Tokyo. Dan teaches Infrared image capture techniques, and digital image Post Production techniques online. No matter what your experience level is, he can help you get the most from your Infrared photography.

Training Session Policies
Cancellations/Rescheduling Policy
Because of the one on one nature of our training sessions each time slot is reserved only for the individual that booked it, therefore we must strictly enforce the policy below. This policy applies to both the complimentary and paid sessions.
Client Preparedness: It is the client’s responsibility to read/watch all provided specifications and instructions, such as how to connect to your training session, equipment and internet service speed requirements. We highly recommend acquiring, downloading, installing and testing all necessary software and equipment well in advance of your scheduled session. We are always glad to help with any questions or issues you encounter during this process if contacted well ahead of your session but ultimately, it is your responsibility to be prepared for your session. Late arrivals or missed sessions due to technical difficulty will not receive special treatment and policies below will still be enforced.
Missed Sessions/No shows: If you flat out miss a session without contacting us in advance to reschedule then your session will be considered complete/forfeited. We cannot reschedule or refund missed/no show sessions.
Late Arrivals: Arriving to your scheduled session late will leave you with less total time as we cannot continue your session beyond your session time slot. Else, we ourselves will be late to the next scheduled session with another client and therefore the time you miss by arriving late is lost and cannot be made up or applied toward another session.
Rescheduling: We realize that situations occur that may prevent you from attending your appointment, and we will make an attempt to reschedule you into an open slot, if available. However, you MUST contact Dan Wampler (your instructor) at least 8 hours in advance of your scheduled session.
Due to lost time and limited availability we cannot reschedule a session more than once. If you miss or cannot attend your rescheduled session it will be considered complete/forfeited.
Cancellations/refunds: All session booking orders are final and non-refundable. 30 minute complimentary sessions are only available once per qualifying conversion order per customer and cannot be purchased separately.
Video File Add-On Policy
Availability: Training session videos are only available for purchase at the time of your original booking order and cannot be added or purchased later.
Delivery: If you ordered your session with the video file option then we will record your session, process the file and make the finished video file available to you via download link within 5 business days.
Your session video download link will be active for 30 days, giving you plenty of opportunity to download, verify file integrity and make a backup copy for safekeeping.
After 30 days the link and file will be deleted and will no longer be available.
Disclaimer: In case of rare technical failure or malfunction which could result in failure of video recording, your sole remedy is a refund of the video file add-on price of your training session.

As a result I learned how to improve vastly my processed images using simple adjustments through layers and NIK. He suggested I use Capture One Express for my Fujifilm IR converted camera to process white balance, which I wouldn’t have considered because I was more focused on trying to figure out DNG profiles. I’ve completed two (2) 1-on-1 sessions with Dan. Each has been highly informative and served to advance my learning curve immensely. Dan was able to assist with the most fundamental issue of white balance, quickly correcting a few misconceptions on my part.
In addition, several valuable tools were provided following my initial training class. These PS actions really accelerate IR photography post-processing. They are a very nice component that has been used often.
My latest 1hr session focused more deeply on PS image processing. We worked on two of my captured images during the time. Using Adobe PS, Dan helped to make my images “pop”. As a new PS user, it was extremely valuable to view live and to also have the recording for future reference. Obviously, there is much more to learn, but these sessions have provided a great springboard for future exploration.

Had my second training session today, decided to book one hour with the video to be able to reference it later… best decision EVER. (My first training was half an hour, and went by SO quickly!) Dan is so helpful, he knows how to explain and teach without making the student feel dumb. There were some things that I got right away, some I needed clarification on, and Dan handled it all with patience. Knowing I would have the video, I didn’t have to scramble to try to take notes on the wealth of information that was being given. I hope very much to attend the Smoky Mountain Workshop in Spring of 2020 (a schedule conflict prevents me from booking the one this Fall.) Very happy with the online training, if you’re wondering if it’s worth it, it DEFINITELY is! Be sure and prepare a list of questions ahead of time, to get the best benefit from the opportunity. I scheduled 2 one-hour sessions with Dan. It is all about the processing and you need to know how to process your IR images. Dan explains the process – from the first step of setting the white balance correct… all the way till the final processing and the final image. I am so glad I scheduled the 2 sessions….we processed my images from the Super Blue filter and my images from the Super Color images…..and the process is different for each. I learned a lot in the 2 hours and have reviewed the recorded video to go over some of the finer points in the training sessions. I highly recommend to anyone that you spend the money and schedule yourself some sessions to learn the “how” to process your IR images. It is money well spent!!!

Life Pixel offers you 3 options for 1 on 1 training, in addition to the workshops, blogs, video training, etc: 1/2 hour, one hour, and two hours. Because it is one on one training, YOU control the topic(s) to be discussed. Dan is terrific at taking your pictures and questions and filling the available time with valuable information, shortcuts, and tools. Decide how much time you can invest, and book the session.
I used my one hour session to discuss lighting challenges–specifically shooting dark interiors without overexposing the views outside windows or doorways. We worked with two of my photos: discussing the exposure, camera settings, and working in photo editing software to maximize the impact of the pictures. I learned that my camera has a bracketing mode that quickly takes multiple exposures (I thought you had to do that manually!), how to color match areas washed out by overexposure, and how to layer multiple exposures to bring out details in all areas of the picture. Because it was one one, I could stop Dan to ask for clarification, back up, and explore “what if we did ____”.
If you want to be able to quickly improve your Photography, book a session with Dan. If you are experienced and just have a few quick questions, 30 minutes will be fine. If you want to go deeper, book this session. You won’t regret it!
