Infrared photography by its nature requires post-production. The prospect of taking an image from its base form and turning it into a work of art can seem a daunting task. It doesn’t have to be that way. The basics of Infrared Post-Production can be learned and providing the photographer has a good exposure, amazing things can happen. We have developed an intensive 2-day Post-Production only workshop for the photographer who wants to become more of a Digital Artist.
We will start each day at 9:00 am. There will be a lunch break, and we will wrap up each day at approximately 5:00 pm.
We will focus our attention on how to properly process your Infrared images.
On Day 1 we will focus on:
- The nature of RAW files
- The reason and need for a native RAW editor
- Why a native RAW editor is better than Camera Raw of Camer Profile
- Which Raw Editor is correct for your camera
- Jpeg, Tiff – 8 bit or 16 bit? What is right for you.
- Introduction to Photoshop Actions
- How to use the PS Actions I have written for Infrared
- Portfolio review- Day 1 Each participant will have he opportunity to present 10 images for a constructive review.
On Day 2 we will discuss:
- How to visualize your 2D image as a 3D construct
- How to deconstruct your image to take total control of what your image becomes.
- Utilizing Filters like the NIK Collection and Filter Forge
- Working with layers and layer masks
- The little tricks to make your images pop
- Note: We will work in Photoshop, not Lightroom.
Below are some examples of what you can do with the right image.
What to Bring:
You will want to bring a minimum of (10) Raw files that have not been processed. Also, consider bringing some of your finished work for a portfolio review.
A laptop with Photoshop on it.
A positive attitude.
